China meets 85% of annual coal capacity reform targets by July 2017 China has eliminated 128Mt of coal capacity in the first seven months, accounting for 85% of its target for this year, according to the latest data published by China National Coal Association (CNCA) . Seven provinces have exceeded their capacity cutbacks targets, including top coal producing province Inner Mongolia. China pledged to eliminate at least 150Mt of coal capacity in 2017. The seven provinces include: Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jiangsu, Fujian, Henan, Guangxi and Chongqing. [Under the plan, CNCA started to cut outdated and inefficient coal capacity in 2016, while this year the reduction will be concentrated on the small-sized operating mines with substandard equipment and skimpy profits.
