Germany's famous ThyssenKrupp has announced the next generation of elevator plans. It will be very different from what we are familiar with. It is a magnetic levitation elevator.
Yes, the next generation of elevators in the eyes of Krupp will use technology similar to that of magnetic levitation trains to shuttle between high-rise buildings of more than 300 meters. Krupp is confident in this prospect and even calls their new technology "Holy Grail in the elevator industry."
Unlike our common elevators, Krupp's magnetic levitation elevators use a parallel double-slip single-single car design with only one car circulating between the two rails. The speed of the elevator is 5 meters per second. Although it is not as fast as the fastest 20 meters per second, this circular design will greatly shorten people's waiting time.
The prototype of the magnetic levitation elevator will be launched at the end of 2016. When will it be able to mass-produce it? Really impatient.
