Since the United States General Electric Company successfully synthesized cubic boron nitride (hereinafter referred to as CBN) that has not been found in nature since 1957, it has excellent superhard properties, high thermal stability and high chemistry. Inertness has caused widespread concern in the processing technology industry. Since the mid-to-late 60s, some people have tried to apply CBN to metal cutting tools until the early 1970s. Table 1 lists the successful years of developing national trials for CBN tools.
