On the morning of July 26, Shi Xiushi, Chairman of the NPC Financial and Economic Committee, visited Yucheng County in Shangqiu, accompanied by Mayor Yu Xueyou. The visit included inspections of industrial parks and urban development projects. During the tour, Shi emphasized the importance of enterprises actively participating in the construction of the Central Plains Economic Zone, aiming to drive economic growth and social progress in Shangqiu and contribute to Henan’s broader development. Liu Jiangong and Chen Luhao, deputy directors of the Provincial People's Congress Financial and Economic Work Committee, along with Gao Xiantao, director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, were also present during the inspection.
Yucheng County has emerged as one of the most competitive industrial clusters in the province, known for its strong development in the diamond powder industry. It is often referred to as the "hometown of diamond powder," with products exported globally to regions such as Southeast Asia, North America, and Africa. Over 70% of China's diamond micro-powder and product supply comes from this area, making it a key player in the national market.
The group first visited the Huifeng New Materials Project, currently in the trial production phase. With a total investment of 570 million yuan, the project is expected to produce 2 billion carats of diamond powder, 200,000 kilometers of diamond wire, and 600,000 diamond stones annually, while creating 1,200 jobs. Shi Xiushi carefully examined the sources, applications, and future potential of diamond micropowder. Upon learning that the automatic sorting system used was developed in-house, he expressed satisfaction and encouraged companies to increase their R&D efforts. He highlighted that the success of both companies and industries should not only rely on production scale but also on quality, innovation, and the development of new products.
Next, the team visited the Henan Haile Electronic Project, which has a total investment of 550 million yuan. As one of the largest LED display manufacturers and circuit board producers in Henan, the project is expected to generate an annual output value of 1 billion yuan and create 1,500 job opportunities. In the production workshop, Shi Xiushi asked the project leader about annual output, sales scope, technical teams, and production efficiency. He emphasized the need for high-tech industries to focus on production efficiency, especially in training skilled workers, managers, and technicians.
Finally, the group visited the Yucheng County Power New Material Manufacturing Group, a comprehensive enterprise integrating diamond manufacturing, micro-powder processing, and quality extraction. As the first diamond-making company in the county, the project is expected to fill gaps in the local diamond industry chain. Shi Xiushi was pleased with the progress and encouraged businesses to take an active role in building the Central Plains Economic Zone, contributing to the overall economic and social development of Shangqiu and the province of Henan.
