On August 5, 2014, in response to the Kunshan explosion incident, Fu Nike organized a special safety management meeting at its Wushu production base. The event aimed to reinforce safety protocols and emphasize the importance of safety awareness among all employees, particularly the management team. The theme of the meeting was “The Kunshan Explosion Was Not an Accident – Safety Management Must Be Normalized.â€
The meeting was chaired by Li Lin, the Deputy General Manager, with key department heads in attendance. Following the tragic Kunshan explosion, Chairman Li Hexin emphasized that such incidents are not random but rather warnings of underlying safety risks. He urged all departments to take safety seriously, improve the accountability of managers, and implement effective measures to eliminate potential hazards.
Minister Zhu Ming presented a detailed analysis of the Kunshan explosion through a news video, sparking discussions among participants about the accident and its implications for safety practices. Li Lin then outlined a comprehensive plan for the company’s safety inspection campaign, which included identifying material, personal, equipment, operational, and transportation-related hazards. Each department was required to conduct self-inspections, while the Operation Supervision Department was tasked with monitoring and ensuring proper procedures were followed.
The General Manager of Yanhua also provided specific instructions on how to handle safety inspections, manage identified risks, and maintain consistent safety standards. Currently, all departments are conducting thorough investigations to identify and address any possible safety issues. A “Safety Responsibility Letter†will be signed with relevant departments based on the principle of “whoever is in charge, is responsible.â€
As the saying goes, “A thousand-mile embankment can be destroyed by an ant’s hole.†Learning from the Kunshan tragedy, we must remain vigilant, prevent small issues from escalating, and ensure that all risks are addressed through continuous and effective safety management.

Carbon Steel Washer
Low carbon USS flat washers, typically used with Grade 8 or hardened steel bolting, are used under bolt heads or nuts to increase the bearing surface area, or to offer protection so that the nut or bolt can be rotated without distortion of the bearing surface. Flat washers are also used to give tightness to a joint, to prevent leakage, and especially to distribute pressure under the head of a bolt or nut. Dimensional specifications are governed by ASME B18.21.1. USS (United States Standard) flat washers have a larger outer diameter than SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) flat washers, and can be utilized in nearly any application. ASTM F844 covers the standard specifications for unhardened steel flat washers for general use. Available in zinc plated finish. Zinc plating sacrifices itself, corroding before the base material, offering added corrosion resistance.
