Zhao Jinbang said that there are many reasons why China's solvent-based and highly polluting paints still dominate. One is the cost problem; the second is the concept problem, that is, the enterprise always believes that the performance of the solvent-based coating is more reliable and stable; the third is the problem of usage habits; the fourth is that the environmental protection coating is not as good as the solvent-based coating in certain properties, and needs to be improved ; Fifth is the problem of technology.

Low volatile organic compounds (VOC) or zero VOC, no heavy metals, no harmful air pollutants (such as formaldehyde, etc.) and energy-saving coatings are collectively called environmentally friendly coatings.

An important source of PM2.5, the main source of pollution causing haze, is VOC. The VOC emissions of the paint coating industry account for about 1/5 of the total VOC emissions. According to the 2012 output of China ’s paint output of 12.31 million tons, the paint coating in that year The VOCs emitted by the industry range from 4 million to 5.3 million tons. This shows that the paint industry has become one of the culprits that cause smog and has a heavy responsibility.
