The Ecological Ship Power Company (EMP) in Fukuoka, Japan, has started to design its Aquarius System wind energy and solar windsurfing.
At present, the company is working with some development partners to develop the Aquarius system wind energy and solar windsurfing. This kind of windsurfing board will be used to collect wind energy and solar energy, which will then be used to power ships so as to reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. This sturdy wind energy and solar-powered windsurfing will generate a kind of help for the ship to use renewable energy at sea, in the port or at anchor.
Each windsurfing board will be located through the computer control system developed by Osaka KEI Systems Co., Ltd., Japan. When these windsurfing boards are not in use, they can be stowed and stored. When wind conditions are unfavorable, the wind resistance can be reduced by adjusting the positioning of these windsurfing boards, but solar energy can still be collected.
Recent developments in solar module technology mean that a combination of rugged windsurfing and solar collectors can now be utilized. Power generation using solar modules mounted on a sturdy but movable windsurfing board has more advantages than simply installing solar panels on the deck of a ship.
Nippon Eco Marine Power Company is convinced that the Aquarius system wind power and solar windsurfing will bring a noticeable return to the shipping companies. The Aquarius system wind energy and solar windsurfing means that it can be used without redesign of various types of ships. The Aquarius system wind energy and solar windsurfing can also be installed on the Navy, Coast Guard, and Fishery Protection ships.
