How to improve the effect of pesticide application during the rainy season

In order to improve the effectiveness of pesticide application, especially under conditions where rain may occur shortly after spraying, several strategies can be employed. First, the use of systemic pesticides is highly recommended. Examples include dimethoate, omethoate, and other insecticides such as chlorfenapyr, fenvalerate, and green milk copper. Additionally, fungicides like carbendazim, triadimefon, and thiophanate are also effective. These substances are absorbed into the plant tissues within 4 to 5 hours after application. For instance, when applied to crops affected by leaf blight, they begin to show internal translocation within just 2 hours. Even if it rains after spraying, the efficacy remains unaffected. Second, selecting fast-acting pesticides is another important approach. Pesticides such as dichlorvos, which have strong contact or systemic killing properties, can kill pests within 1 to 2 hours of application. Other examples include various formulations used for controlling pests like aphids, whiteflies, and bollworms. Approximately 50% of the active ingredients in products like green milk copper and tricyclazole are absorbed into the plant tissue, and even if it rains one hour after application, the effectiveness is not significantly reduced. Third, choosing rain-tolerant pesticides is crucial. Products such as Jinggangmycin, Weiweiwei, and Suikeling are known for their ability to remain effective even after rainfall. These pesticides can be applied and still maintain their performance for up to 1–2 hours after rain occurs. Fourth, adding an adhesive to the pesticide solution can enhance its adherence to the crop surface and pests. This prevents the pesticide from being easily washed away by rain. A common practice is to add about 50–75 grams of washing powder per 50 liters of liquid, mix thoroughly, and apply immediately to ensure maximum coverage and retention. By implementing these methods, farmers can significantly improve the efficiency and durability of pesticide applications, ensuring better protection for crops even in adverse weather conditions.
