Guangzhou City is set to launch real-time online monitoring of pollution control at selected construction sites starting in July this year. This initiative aims to promote civilized construction practices and effectively reduce dust pollution, ensuring cleaner air in urban areas.
The real-time monitoring system will focus on measuring PM10 and PM2.5 levels at construction sites, collecting, processing, and transmitting data in real time. This will allow authorities to quickly access information about particle concentrations in different construction zones, enabling them to monitor air quality more effectively. Based on the data, appropriate measures can be taken to improve air quality and support long-term management of dust pollution across the city.
Currently, the Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, along with other relevant departments, is working together to coordinate and implement this project. Starting in July, pilot programs will be launched at several key construction sites, with plans to gradually expand the system to all active construction projects in the city.
Throughout the implementation process, the city will continue to strengthen dust control measures. It will enforce a grid-based management system for dust prevention and civilized construction. Additionally, night-time inspections will be conducted at 35 major construction sites, and strict checks will be carried out on debris trucks that have dirt on their tires, are overloaded, or do not follow designated routes. These efforts aim to ensure compliance and maintain environmental standards during construction activities.
