Japanese machine tool analysis in April market

Orders for Japanese machine tool tools totaled 99.24 billion yen in April, down 14.6% from March, the first month-on-month decline this year; compared with April last year, it fell by 26.3%, the ninth consecutive year of year-on-year decline. The total order amount is less than 100 billion yen for the first time in 32 months. Japanese industry experts are also paying more attention to the expected impact of various policies on Japanese domestic orders in the second half of the year.
Domestic orders in Japan totaled 38.97 billion yen, up 24.0% from March, the first time in two months. It was down 19.6% from April last year and is the third consecutive year-on-year decline this year.
In major industry sectors, industrial machinery orders fell 27.0% in April, auto manufacturing orders fell 11.4%, orders for electronics and precision machinery fell 47.2%, and orders for aviation, shipbuilding and transportation equipment fell 23.1%.
Japan’s foreign trade orders totaled 60.26 billion yen, down 7.2% from March, the first time since the first three months of this year. Compared with the same period of last year, it was down by 30.1%.
In terms of the order area, Asian orders fell 9.5% from March, with orders totaling 22.97 billion yen, down 52.8% from the same period last year. European orders fell 0.3% from March, with orders totaling 15.86 billion yen; an increase of 2.5% compared with the same period last year.
