Radiation protection facilities

1   The chemical production process with the influence of ionizing radiation must be designed with reliable protective measures. The design of ionizing radiation protection should comply with the provisions of the “Basic Standard for Radioactive Health Protection” (GB4791) .

2   Protection designs with non-ionizing radiation effects such as high-frequency, microwave, laser, ultraviolet, and infrared rays shall comply with the corresponding national standards and relevant regulations.

3   The design of chemical plant should be based on the nature of the radiation source and the degree of harm to reasonably arrange the radiation source. The necessary protection distance should be set between the radiation operation area and the living area.

4   Chemical plant design should be based on the nature of the radiation source to take measures to shield the radiation source, if necessary, design shielding room, shielding wall or isolation area.

5   For closed radioactive sources, effective protective measures should be taken based on dose intensity, irradiation time, and distance from the source.

6   For the internal radiation of the production process, the production process is closed, reliable monitoring instruments, automatic alarms and automatic interlock systems are designed to achieve automation and long-distance operation.

7   Radioactive materials and wastes should be designed with special containers and transport equipment and transported on designated routes. Radioactive sources, radioactive materials and waste disposal sites must have safety precautions.

8   The production process with a radiation workplace should be equipped with the necessary monitoring instruments according to the nature of the hazard. Personnel handling and using radioactivity and radioisotope instruments and equipment should be equipped with personal protective equipment.
