Six people were killed in the collapse of a high-grade quarry in Jiangxi Province

On March 29th, a major landslide occurred at Jincheng Mining Company in Jinjiang Town, Shanggao County, Jiangxi Province, during the handling of hazardous materials. Seven workers were on site at the time, and one was confirmed dead immediately. Six others were trapped under the debris. As of 8:00 PM on March 30th, six of the workers had been rescued but were later pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital. One worker remains missing, and rescue efforts are ongoing.

According to the Shanggao County Publicity Department, the incident took place at 5:10 PM on March 29th, when a large-scale landslide struck the mining site during risk-relief operations. The local authorities, including police, fire services, and safety regulators, quickly mobilized for emergency response. Despite the challenging conditions, rescuers have been working around the clock to locate the remaining victim.

Heavy rainfall hit the area on the afternoon of March 30th, complicating the search and rescue mission. Officials from the local propaganda department emphasized that even with limited chances, they would not give up. Initially, there were plans to use controlled explosions to clear the landslide, but this method was abandoned due to safety concerns. Instead, heavy machinery such as excavators and rock crushers are now being used to dig from both sides of the slope.

"We will continue the search overnight until we find the missing person," said an official. Rescue teams are working under intense pressure, with high hopes for a miracle. Meanwhile, the provincial work safety bureau and local government have confirmed that seven people were trapped during the operation at the quarry. So far, six have been found, but all have lost their lives.
