Yunnan Furniture Industry Association recently reported that after four consecutive years of quality inspections on furniture products in the province, the overall quality of furniture has continuously improved. In 2012, the pass rate for random sampling reached as high as 97%. This significant achievement reflects the ongoing efforts by both the industry and regulatory bodies to ensure product quality and consumer safety.
The implementation of mandatory standards for children's furniture and mahogany furniture in 2012 marked a transitional period for the industry. As part of the "Furniture Quality Inspection" campaign, a total of 267 furniture companies were sampled this year—an increase of 8.53% compared to last year’s 246 enterprises. A total of 281 product samples were tested, with only 12 failing due to quality issues, resulting in an impressive 97% pass rate.
Ms. Xi Hui, President of the Furniture Association, emphasized that in order to enhance the professional skills of members and practitioners, and to promote legal compliance among companies, the association has organized six training sessions. These sessions included experts from the Provincial Technical Supervision Bureau and Product Quality Inspection Institutes, offering specialized training on new national standards and quality management practices to local furniture manufacturers and managers.
It is worth noting that Yunnan's furniture quality inspection program has been ongoing for four consecutive years. Companies such as Jingjing Mattress, Tianyue Furniture, Hundred Years Furniture, and Kangfa Furniture have consistently performed well in these inspections, setting a positive example for the industry. Additionally, furniture brands from Guangdong, Zhejiang, Chengdu, and Shanghai have gained popularity in Yunnan due to their reputation for environmental friendliness and adherence to industry standards. Their presence has contributed to the overall improvement of the market and increased consumer confidence in locally available furniture products.
