Yunnan Furniture Industry Association recently reported that after four consecutive years of quality inspections on furniture products in the province, the overall quality of furniture has shown consistent improvement. In 2012, the pass rate of random inspections reached as high as 97%, reflecting a positive trend in product quality and consumer confidence.
The implementation of mandatory standards for children's furniture and mahogany furniture in 2012 marked a crucial transition period for the industry. As part of the "Furniture Quality Inspection" campaign, a total of 267 furniture companies were sampled this year, representing an 8.53% increase compared to the previous year's 246 companies. A total of 281 product samples were tested, with only 12 items failing to meet quality standards. This resulted in an overall pass rate of 97%.
Ms. Xi Hui, President of the Furniture Association, emphasized that in order to enhance the overall quality of members and professionals and ensure legal compliance, the association organized six training sessions covering various topics. These included collaborations with the Provincial Technical Supervision Bureau and the Product Quality Inspection Institute, offering specialized training to furniture manufacturers and managers, particularly focusing on new national standards.
It is worth noting that Yunnan's furniture quality inspection program has been ongoing for four consecutive years. Companies such as Jingjing Mattress, Tianyue Furniture, Hundred Years Furniture, and Kangfa Furniture have consistently performed well in these inspections, setting a good example for the industry. Meanwhile, furniture brands from Guangdong, Zhejiang, Chengdu, and Shanghai have gained popularity among local consumers due to their environmentally friendly and standardized image. This growing competition has further driven the industry toward higher quality and better service.
